iZotope and Goldbaby are offering XRB Free, a set of 16 iDrum Kits and 74 Apple Loops that work in GarageBand. The free loops are part of a larger commercial product called XRB. If you like the free loops, they are available for purchase at iZotope’s web site for a promotional price of $29 USD until July 23rd, 2006, when the price will return to $49 USD.
I downloaded and installed the free kits and loops and they worked like a charm. I found them to be sonically superior to many of the Apple drum loops and their organization and naming conventions made it easy to build solid drum grooves from the ground up.
As a podcaster, I am always on the lookout for new ways to introduce new sounds into my podcasts. This is a great way to change your sound without spending a dime.
