For those of you who are interested in the technical side of listing your podcast at the iTunes Music Store, you should visit Apple’s updated Podcasting and iTunes: Technical Specification page. There is a wealth of information there on the submission and feedback process as well as example feeds, iTunes RSS tags, common mistakes and most importantly, a completely revamped category list. This last bit of news is important if you want people to be able to easily find your podcast in the iTunes Music Store. Apple has dropped some categories and nested others. It would be worth your time to investigate this if you care about getting iTunes Music Store traffic.

It’s worth noting that the changes to the iTunes Store podcasting specs have not been smooth for all podcasters, Yours Truly included. Links to our existing episodes of the iLifeZone were broken and one of our podcasts was truncated. So check your feeds there to see if your podcast was impacted. We’ve deided to repost our previous episodes in order to fix the problems.
